Spencer Gambill, born in Corpus Christi, Texas and raised in Lamar, Texas, has always loved being outdoors and moving his body. From a young age he began practicing ballet, gymnastics, tennis, and eventually found himself in the ocean surfing after purchasing his first surfboard in a pawn shop for $35. Although his father, artist and musician Bruce Gambill, disapproved of his shift into the sea, his mother, Patricia Manson, saw it coming from miles away, as she always said he swam like a fish.

Spencer spent most of his youth surfing the Texas coast, both central and southern, and traveling as much as possible to Mexico, Hawaii, and El Salvador. On a surfing trip to Puerto Rico, he sustained an injury to the lower left back and glute region. Unable to get out of bed, he visited a massage therapist and received his first ever chiropractic adjustment, resulting in less pain and the ability to surf at about 70% for the remainder of his trip. At this point, he understood that he would need to change his lifestyle to continue doing what he loved, and began practicing yoga, Pilates, and Gyrotonics when returning home.

As Spencer dove deep into his self recovery and strengthening, a new passion for Pilates emerged. He left the service and education industry to teach Pilates after receiving his comprehensive certification with Peak Pilates Level III with Master Instructor Nancy Gwinnell Hurd of Austin Pilates Barn. He continues to practice and recently graduated from the Discover, Move, Inspire Graduate Pilates Program at Austin Pilates Barn. As he works to not only improve his own strength, mobility, and flexibility, Spencer Gambill learns to share the Classical approach to Pilates with his students and his two handsome boys, Sage and Gillian Asher. After four years of teaching, he opened his own studio, Highline Pilates, March 2024 in Corpus Christi, Texas and is ready to share his knowledge of the body with you!
